Server monitoring with managed servers

You get server monitoring with a managed server, so that problems are prevented as connectivity is constantly observed. Five of the following aspects of managed servers are monitored every 15 minutes, in 3 locations, to prevent against false positives:

FTP - (File Transfer Protocol)

FTP is one of the most common ways to send files between two computers, and is used to transfer data from one computer to another over the internet or through a network. Other computers can access files that are stored by FTP servers, and security services are provided so that only authorised access is allowed.

HTTP - (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)

At the beginning of every internet address is where HTTP appears, and most documents that travel over the internet are governed by this set of rules. To send text files over the internet, an HTTP client program is required at one end and an HTTP server program at the other end.

PING - (Packet Internet Groper)

PING is an internet utility which is used to determine whether a particular IP address or host name is online. It can also see if the host at that address is responding normally. A PING sends out a package and then waits for a response to test and debug a network.

POP3 - (Post Office Protocol)

POP3 is the latest version of the Post Office Protocol, and this is how email servers and email clients communicate and transfer messages. POP mail is used by most ISP's because when the email client connects; it sends all the mail to the user's computer and erases it from the computer.

SMTP - (Simple Mail Transport Protocol)

SMTP is the main protocol used to send electric mail over the internet. SMTP consists of a set of rules for how the interaction should be between a program sending mail and a program receiving mail. For the majority of the time, SMTP is used for client to server and server to server communication.
